Vote: The US Should Recognize Palestine as an Independent State

[ Ed. note – It seems the video has been taken down by an invisible hand of some sort. But here is a still shot from it that remains:

In the  video above we see Palestinian athletes making their entrance at the Olympic arena in Rio. It’s a rather inspiring sight for anyone familiar with the history of land theft and occupation that this nation of people has resisted. In 2012, the UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in favor of granting Palestine “non-member observer status” at the UN. Only nine countries voted against. One of them was the United States.

Maybe it’s time the US changed its position and officially recognized Palestine as an independent state. If you agree, go here to vote.

Also–recently Google erased the word “Palestine” from its maps of the Middle East. You can weigh in on that as well. An online petition has been started that as of 8 o’clock Tuesday evening had gained more than 230,000 signatures.

So make your views known on both issues. Vote in favor of the US extending recognition to an independent Palestinian state, and then sign the petition telling Google to put Palestine back on the map.
