‘Daughters of the Land’–Documentary Looks at Women Soldiers in Syrian Army

Asma Assad, wife of Syrian President Bashar Assad, meets with family of a martyred woman soldier.

Mrs. Asma al-Assad received Monday families of female martyrs of the Syrian Arab Army and the National Defense Forces, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland.

Mrs. Asma al-Assad asserted to families of the martyrs that what Syrian women provided throughout the crisis highlights that their devotion to their families and homeland is unlimited, pointing out that joining men in defending their homes, neighborhoods and country is a prominent reason for Syria’s steadfastness.

Mrs. al-Assad said it is not strange for Syrian women, who have brought up their children, teaching them how to love their country and to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the homeland.

For their part, families of the martyrs expressed gratitude for the attention, stressing that the homeland deserves great sacrifices, showing pride over the sacrifices of female martyrs, which indicates that the Syrian women have not only fulfilled their duties in building the society, but they also have taken up arms to defend their homeland.
