US-based Group Makes Appeal on Behalf of Tamimi Family

The following message was sent out last night by the Friends of Sabeel of North America:

Mohammed Tamimi, a fourteen-year-old boy, is in critical care after surgeons performed an extensive surgery from wounds to his head. Mohammed was shot in Nabi Saleh with rubber-coated bullets while demonstrating against Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Ahed Tamimi and her mother, Nariman Tamimi, have both been arrested by the Israeli army. Their home was raided for phones, cameras, and laptops. Their detention has been extended to Thursday, December 21st. Ahed and Nariman are the latest in over 450 Palestinians arrested by the Israeli army following Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Ahed is a Palestinian leader of nonviolent resistance in her town of Nabi Saleh and internationally. FOSNA invited Ahed on a speaking tour with activist Nadya Tannous and minister Amanda Wheatherspoon in 2017. She was forced to participate through video, since her visa was put under “administrative review.” Ahed is one of hundreds of children facing detention by the Israeli army.

Take Immediate Action:

1) Call your Congressional representative to support H.R. 4391, the Promoting Human Rights by Ending Israeli Military Detention of Palestinian Children Act. Tell them about Ahed’s arrest and urge them to act for her release. Click here to write to Congress.

2) Call your nearest Israeli embassy and let them know you are aware of Ahed Tamimi’s arrest in Nabi Saleh, among other Palestinian child prisoners. Demand Ahed, her mother Nariman, and the other detailed children be immediately released.

Share this message on Facebook and Twitter to spread the word: Release Ahed and Nariman!

In solidarity,

  1. Thanks for this post (I received the FOSNA appeal directly but hadn’t taken action). I am overwhelmed and depressed, but I did manage to write the AFSC-suggested letter to my congresstitute — a futile exercise — with extensive and strongly made DEMANDS for action.

I’ve been following Bill 4391 for about a month with multiple reach-outs…last I checked there are 17 co-sponsors…depressing.
