The two videos above were posted by South Front a month apart, the one on Hezbollah capabilities posted on November 18, while the video assessing Israeli capabilities appeared on December 20. Some of the “scenarios” mentioned may play out sooner than many have expected…
Both Israeli and Hezbollah media are now reporting on clashes between Syrian-allied forces and Israeli-backed militants (or “besieged Syrian rebels” as the Israeli media refer to them). This fighting is said to be occurring just seven miles from the border of Israel-occupied Golan Heights. (See reports below.) At the very least I suspect we can count on another Israeli missile attack upon Syria.
From the Times of Israel, published on December 27:
Hezbollah and Syrian army forces have reportedly launched an assault on a besieged Syrian rebels’ stronghold some 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) from Israel’s border, even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel will not accept Iranian proxies on its frontier.
Rebels groups have reported heavy bombardments and artillery fire on their positions, and the Syrian army claimed it had encircled Mughr al Meer at the foot of Mount Hermon, the elevated area that commands the Golan Heights.
The rebels holed up in those areas have been ordered by surrounding regime forces to surrender or face defeat, Reuters reported Tuesday night.
From Al Manar, published December 28:
The field advance achieved by the Syrian army and allies in the southwestern countryside of Damascus into the border of the occupied Golan heights triggered the Zionist concerns about the complete collapse of the ‘security zone’ controlled by the militant groups, according to the Israeli media.
The Zionist media has expected that Hezbollah and the Syrian will benefit from the advance in Mount Hermon (Jabal Al-Sheikh) to launch a decisive attack on the militant groups in Quneitra and Daraa and destroy the Israeli-backed ‘security zone’ which provides the occupation entity with the needed protection.
The Zionist media has considered that this field development as a strategic change, adding that it blows all the Israeli bets on the militant groups as they have been expected to prevent the resistance forces from fighting the Zionist occupation army.
Are we looking at a battle between the “Party of God” and the “Synagogue of Satan,” as it were? I probably wouldn’t want to speculate on that, but perhaps the words of William Blake are appropriate here:
Prepare, prepare the iron helm of war,
Bring forth the lots, cast in the spacious orb;
Th’ Angel of Fate turns them with mighty hands,
And casts them out upon the darken’d earth!
–William Blake (from the poem “A War Song to Englishmen”)
