Russians are truly fortunate people. They don’t have to shield their eyes from the embarrassing spectacle of their leaders bowing and prostrating themselves before the Israel lobby. The protest in the above video took place yesterday, on day one of the AIPAC convention. There’s a lot of anger expressed in it. You can kind of understand why.

ACLU Commentary on Senate Bill Criminalizing BDS Published by Washington Post

A couple of weeks ago I posted an article about the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, introduced in the Senate by Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland. The ACLU at the time, as I mentioned in the post, had published an open letter warning that the bill would make it a felony for Americans to support the boycott of Israel and urging Congress members not to sign onto it. (At the time, 45 members of the Senate had signed on as co-sponsors; that number is now up to 46.)

Senators Respond to ACLU Letter, Deny Bill Will Criminalize Boycotting Israel

Sens. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Ben Cardin (D-Maryland) deny the bill they are sponsoring in the Senate, the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, will impose criminal penalties for participating in a boycott of Israel

Sen. Ben Cardin, who introduced the Israel Anti-Boycott Act, and Sen. Rob Portman, a co-sponsor of the bill, have responded to a letter published by the ACLU. Specifically the two lawmakers say they want to “correct some fundamental misunderstandings about the bill.”

Sen. Bill Would Criminalize BDS, Impose Prison Terms; ACLU Publishes Letter in Opposition

Senators Kristen Gillibrand and Charles Schumer of New York are among the co-sponsors of a bill calling for criminal penalties for US citizens supporting a boycott of Israel.

“We write today in opposition to S. 720, also known as the Israel Anti-Boycott Act. We understand that proponents of the bill are seeking additional co-sponsors. We urge you to refrain from co-sponsoring the legislation because it would punish individuals for no reason other than their political beliefs.”

So reads the opening paragraph of a letter published on Monday by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Will Donald Trump Say Anything About the Attack on the USS Liberty?

This Thursday, June 8, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Israeli attack upon the USS Liberty. Will President Trump bother to pay tribute to the 34 US sailors who lost their lives that day? Will he express any sort of condolences to their families? Will he take the time to at least maybe post a tweet acknowledging his awareness of what happened 50 years ago?
