Recently We Hold These Truths uploaded a podcast featuring a discussion on the book, “Judaism’s Strange Gods,” by Michael Hoffman. The following is the program description:
Ironic isn’t it? That the State of Israel, and the worldwide anger over its racist policies and illegal settlements, now has in essence come to represent a threat to the safety of Jews? That at any rate seems to be what’s on the minds of the folks at Neturei Karta, the Orthodox Jewish organization that for years has been speaking out against Zionist aggression against Palestinians. Of course now, with a new intifada raging and with videos such as this one going viral all over the Internet, the stakes are even higher.
My take on Neturei Karta is that they endeavor to draw a clear line of demarcation between Torah Jews, or “the authentic Jewish people,” and the Zionists, and to wholly disassociate themselves from the latter. Furthermore they try to make this as public as possible. I would probably do the same thing in their position. In this, their latest video, they call for an international peacekeeping force to protect the Al Aqsa Mosque from intrusion by Israeli settlers.
Yusuf Hassan al-Ramouni, a 32-year-old Palestinian man, was found hanged Sunday night on a Jerusalem bus. His death is being called a murder by a Palestinian pathologist, and Neturei Karta, the orthodox Jewish group that opposes the state of Israel, denounced the attack on him in a press release yesterday (see below).
If you’ve been following the news from Occupied Palestine, Zionist incursions onto the Haram al-Sharif, or the Temple Mount, are back in the news again. In an article posted yesterday, Ma’an News reported on the latest incident, which occurred Wednesday morning when a group of right-wing Jews, accompanied by police escort, barged into the area, reportedly “singing and dancing” while verbally attacking Muslim worshipers.
It seems we are seeing significant numbers of Jews speaking out against Israeli war crimes, and I’m not just talking about the “usual suspects” here (Atzmon, Blumenthal, etc.). What, are we to make of British Jewish-Zionist politician Ed Miliband’s recent public criticism of David Cameron for failing to oppose the carnage in Gaza?
Or consider the following report from the Jewish-directed Human Rights Watch organization:
With the help of the Almighty,
July 20, 2014
Holocaust survivors cry out to world powers to
Stop the Zionist Waffen SchutzStaffel Genocide
of our Palestinian Brothers of Occupied Palestine!
On thing that hasn’t gotten much attention in the debate presently going on within Christianity–over Israel, and whether Christians should or shouldn’t be supporting its occupation of the Palestinians–is the position taken by Neturei Karta. In this video, the NK’s Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss not only denounces recent claims by Knesset members and other officials to Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount, he actually issues a call for the peaceful dismantlement of the Jewish state, something I’ve been advocating as well.
