I came across the above picture several days ago. It is of Nur Hamdan, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy who lost his eye earlier this month after being shot by Israeli police. According to news reports, Nur was standing on the balcony of his East Jerusalem home along with his mother and a cousin when he was hit by a “sponge-tipped bullet.”

Russia Says Latest US Threat Against Syria is ‘Warning Sign of Intervention’

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova is calling it a “warning sign” of a possible US troop buildup and all-out military intervention in Syria. She is referring to Washington’s claim earlier this week that it believes Syria is planning a chemical attack.

A Quote from Jesus that Perfectly Fits the Situation

Yesterday I put up a post on the book  Judaism’s Strange Gods that included a video with comments by a member of Neturei Karta, the group of religious Jews who have called for the dismantling of the state of Israel. In the video, the NK member talks about Jews in Israel who, through such acts as refusing to serve in the Israeli military, have suffered retribution. He refers to such people as having been arrested, beaten, and in some cases even murdered.

Reading the gospels in the light of current events becomes a more eye-opening experience for me with each passing day. Take the words of Jesus in Luke 12:1. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy,” he remarks to his disciples.

Living Water: The “14’s”of John

He came from God full of grace and truth

John’s gospel is unique among the four gospels. Catholic scholar Raymond E. Brown referred to it as the gospel with the highest “christology.” You can find within it concepts–such as that of Living Water or the Holy Spirit–that are not addressed at all in the other gospels or only minimally addressed.
