[ Ed. note – The American Legion, at its annual convention, has adopted an historic resolution on the June 8, 1967 attack by Israel against the USS Liberty–an attack that resulted in the deaths of 34 US sailors and injuries to 173 more. Below is the resolution itself, posted on the USS Liberty Veterans Association blog, followed by an article by Alison Weir. The American Legion held its convention August 22-24 in Reno, Nevada. The resolution was adopted on the final day of the convention. ]
“The reason is apparently that the Americans have findings that show our pilots were in fact aware the ship was American.”
[ Ed. note – If you’re a Zionist or an Israeli (or both), then I guess the word that might come most immediately to your mind here would be “Oooops!”

This Thursday, June 8, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Israeli attack upon the USS Liberty. Will President Trump bother to pay tribute to the 34 US sailors who lost their lives that day? Will he express any sort of condolences to their families? Will he take the time to at least maybe post a tweet acknowledging his awareness of what happened 50 years ago?
Launching an aerial attack on military personnel of another country and then claiming afterwards it was an accident –sounds like a familiar story. Has Ashton Carter taken a page out of the Israeli playbook? According to the findings of the Independent Commission of Inquiry into the Israeli Attack on the USS Liberty, the combined air and naval assault that took place on June 8, 1967 lasted for two hours and was preceded by eight hours of aerial surveillance.
Here, for those who may not have seen it yet, is an Al Jazeera documentary that came out in November of last year. The 49-minute video examines the June 8, 1967 attack on the USS Liberty, providing explosive new evidence that the Israelis, despite claims to the contrary, knew all along that the ship they were attacking was a US ship. The documentary ends with the words:
“The Day Israel Attacked America” is a new documentary produced by Al Jazeera on the Israeli attack upon the USS Liberty. The Liberty was a US Naval ship, and the attack on it occurred on June 8, 1967–a day that should “live in infamy” if ever there was one. A little bit about the documentary, including how it came to be produced, as well as the newly-obtained evidence pointing to deliberate Israeli criminality it presents, is given in the article below.

On June 8, 1967, Israeli leaders learned they could deliberately attack a U.S. Navy ship and try to send it, together with its entire crew, to the bottom of the Mediterranean – with impunity. Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats attacked the USS Liberty, a state-of-the-art intelligence collection platform sailing in international waters off the Sinai, killing 34 of the 294 crew members and wounding more than 170.
