[ Ed. note – The American Legion, at its annual convention, has adopted an historic resolution on the June 8, 1967 attack by Israel against the USS Liberty–an attack that resulted in the deaths of 34 US sailors and injuries to 173 more.  Below is the resolution itself, posted on the USS Liberty Veterans Association blog, followed by an article by Alison Weir. Will Donald Trump Say Anything About the Attack on the USS Liberty?

This Thursday, June 8, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Israeli attack upon the USS Liberty. Will President Trump bother to pay tribute to the 34 US sailors who lost their lives that day? Will he express any sort of condolences to their families? Will he take the time to at least maybe post a tweet acknowledging his awareness of what happened 50 years ago?

Assad Says US Attack Was Intentional, Lasted for More Than an Hour

Launching an aerial attack on military personnel of another country and then claiming afterwards it was an accident –sounds like a familiar story. The Liberty was a US Naval ship, and the attack on it occurred on June 8, 1967–a day that should “live in infamy” if ever there was one. Leaving the USS Liberty Crew Behind

On June 8, 1967, Israeli leaders learned they could deliberately attack a U.S. Navy ship and try to send it, together with its entire crew, to the bottom of the Mediterranean – with impunity. Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats attacked the USS Liberty, a state-of-the-art intelligence collection platform sailing in international waters off the Sinai, killing 34 of the 294 crew members and wounding more than 170.
